The Work

Training for dogs with purpose  and people who won't settle.

Waypoint K9 specializes in two core areas: Service dog training and behavior modification. Whether you're raising a working partner or living with a dog who feels impossible to reach, I'll meet you where you are with a plan that actually works.

Service Dog Training

I work with owner-trainers and program prospects across all stages  from early foundation to public access to advanced task work. My approach is relationship-first, needs-aware, and built around real-world function.

Specialties include:

  • Medical alert and response

  • Mobility support

  • Psychiatric service dogs

  • Task development and troubleshooting

  • Public access training in real-world environments

  • Confidence-building and neutrality in busy settings

  • Selecting and evaluating SD prospects

  • Teaching clean behavior chains for complex tasks

You'll never be told to "just manage it." You'll get structure, strategy, and support — from a trainer who's lived it and gets it.

These placements are rare, intentional, and rooted in relationship from day one. Every program dog is raised with structure, clarity, and compassion — so they're not just trained; they're ready.

Waypoint K9 also offers fully trained program dogs for qualified handlers. Each dog is carefully selected, raised, and trained in-house from foundation through full public access and task proficiency. These dogs are purpose-bred or handpicked for work, trained using the same individualized, balanced approach I use with all client dogs, and matched intentionally based on lifestyle, task need, and handler personality.

Program Dogs

Note: I am not a large-volume program. Program dogs are limited, with a focus on quality over quantity.

Some dogs need more than obedience. They need someone who actually understands what they're trying to say.

Waypoint K9 specializes in complex behavior cases, including:

  • Human-directed aggression

  • Dog reactivity and overarousal

  • Fear and shutdown behaviors

  • Separation anxiety

  • Resource guarding

  • Environmental triggers and sensitivities

  • Leash conflict and frustration-based behaviors

  • Inappropriate prey drive or chase behavior

You'll never be told to "just manage it." You'll get structure, strategy, and support — from a trainer who's lived it and gets it.

Behavior Modification

  • Multi-dog household tension and integration issue

For dogs with drive and handlers who want more — I offer advanced obedience and working dog prep without the chaos.

Sport-focused sessions include:

  • Precision obedience and clarity

  • Engagement and control under pressure

  • Environmental neutrality

  • Foundation work for PSA, IGP, Rally, and more

Note: I do not offer decoy or bitework at this time  only the clean foundational work that makes success possible.
